Cookies, Meet Diet!

For the health—and taste—conscious, there are finally some sweet treats that won’t evoke a guilty conscience. New York fitness trainer Anke Cosich created Anke’s Fit Bakery, a business that sells wholesome baked goods from her own kitchen. Growing up in Germany, Anke was surrounded by sweet-smelling concoctions cooked in her grandmother’s and mother’s kitchens. Anke, an athlete from a young age, became an established trainer and dedicated runner. Her clients often complained of the scarcity of nutritious—yet delicious— snacks and desserts, so, with her childhood memories in mind, she began experimenting with fresh ingredients in her kitchen.

Fast forward to today, Anke’s creations are sold in stores throughout New York as well as shipped around the country. All of her products, which include cookies, peanut butter bars, granola and brownies, are a mix of unprocessed, natural ingredients. She forgoes butter in favor of canola and healthy oils. She substitutes white and brown sugar with organic maple syrup, agave nectar, sucanat and raw cane sugar in moderation. She also uses oats and spelt flour in her mixture. Her natural ingredients create a delectable, healthy snack that will unleash the most severe sugar cravings.

While Anke’s treats haven’t hit Michigan shelves yet, she has an online store and ships nationwide. VIM readers, never feel guilty about eating that last cookie again!
